Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about getting started with therapy.

What should I expect during the first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals, and your history. I'll explain my approach and we'll work together to develop a treatment plan that fits your needs.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I accept most major insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare. I also offer sliding scale fees for qualifying families. Please contact me to verify your specific plan coverage.

How long does therapy typically take?

The length of therapy varies greatly depending on individual needs and goals. Some people benefit from short-term therapy (8-12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term support. We'll regularly review your progress and adjust as needed.

Is everything I share confidential?

Yes, everything you share in therapy is confidential with very limited exceptions required by law (such as imminent danger to self or others, or suspected child abuse). I'll always discuss any confidentiality concerns with you first.
